Choose a worksheet by the decision you need to make

Use an input checklist before analysis, an operating register while work occurs, and an action tracker after a review. Do not copy the same fields into several files. Select one accountable record, define who updates it and retain the source evidence behind any summary.

Minimum control for a useful record

  1. Give every row a date, location and traceable reference.
  2. Use controlled choices for status and reason instead of free-text variations.
  3. Name the owner and due date for every open action.
  4. Protect formulas and definitions while leaving input cells editable.
  5. Review overdue and repeated conditions, then retain closure evidence.

All downloadable examples use invented data and remain editable. Test the fields with a small sample from your operation before adopting a file as a controlled record.

SOPs & checklists
