01 / prepare
Before you start
- Check the receipt or transfer reference, item, batch/serial and required storage condition.
- Confirm equipment capacity and the approved route for the load.
- Check destination capacity, location label and segregation rules.
02 / execute
Procedure
- 01
Verify identity
Scan or read the handling-unit label against the task before moving.
- 02
Select location
Use the WMS-directed location or an authorised override; check size, load rating, compatibility and temperature needs.
- 03
Move safely
Travel by the designated route with the load stable and view clear; use a spotter only under the site procedure.
- 04
Place and inspect
Place without blocking sprinklers, aisles or exits; check the unit remains intact and accessible.
- 05
Confirm in system
Scan or record the actual location and handling unit at the point of placement, not later from memory.
- 06
Reconcile exceptions
If the directed location is unavailable, put the unit in a controlled holding location and request a documented reassignment.
03 / exception control
Stop and escalate when
- Damaged rack, unstable pallet or questionable capacity: stop and isolate.
- Wrong item or batch: return to an exception location; do not relabel silently.
- Missing system confirmation: keep stock unavailable until resolved.
04 / verify

Basis and further reading
- Based on warehouse process controls and the site-specific approval workflow; adapt to your WMS, products and risk assessment.
This is a working template, not a certification or legal opinion. Local law, site risk assessment, manufacturer instructions and approved procedures take priority. For India-specific licences, start with the warehouse licences guide.
